Behind Bryggen (Bergen, Norway)

Behind Bryggen

Right after I was married, my husband was a visiting scientist in Bergen, Norway. We spent a wonderful year there. On a street above the famous Bryggen section of the town, all the buildings are interesting wooden structures. The spaces between them are narrow and random in their shapes. They are so close together that it is a real fire hazard; the area has burned several times. Seeing the area from above was fascinating. This drawing was executed on black paper which aided greatly in achieving the dark patterns.
